Located 185 km away from Riyadh in Ramah Governorate, Al-Tanhat is bordered by ad-Dahna Desert from the north and the east, and it is considered to be the final estuary of a number of valleys, most notably Al-Shoki Valley, Wadi Al-Atak and Wadi Al-Tiri, and it is considered one of the largest natural locations in the Kingdom, with an area of more than 140 thousand km2. There are a number of population centers located around Al-Rawda, including Al-Hamisiya, Hafar Al-Atsh, Al-Hafina, and Ruwaigib, and is surrounded by a number of major populated areas, including Ramah and Al-Ramahiya from the south, and Tamir from the north, and a road branching from Al-Samman Road, and there are roads surrounding it from the west and south to connect it with the surrounding population centers.
Al-Khafs extends at the tip of the ad-Dahna Desert in the Governorate
of Huraymila, and it is located below the mountains of Al-Arma and in the valley between the mountains and Arq ar-Rathmah, it splits into two parts, the northern part and southern part, and is a final destination of valleys , the most important of which are Al-Tawqi, Dagla and Muharraq. The reserve is known for many plants, which includes Talh, Sidr, Chrysanthemum, Hallan and lavender, and the supervision of the development of the reserve is managed by an administrative body headed by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
